Connecting to the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)

Go to: https://vdi.laverne.edu/

You will then proceed to the VMware Horizon logon screen:

Install the client by clicking on “Install VMware Horizon Client” (You can also access the Virtual Desktops without installing the app and using your web browser by selecting the other option: “VMware Horizon HTML Access”)

Most university issued laptops will have this app installed already, the application will look like the one below. If the app is already installed on your computer you can skip to step 1. If you wish to use VDI without installing the app you can skip to step 2.

Find the appropriate Download for your operating system, and click on “Go to Downloads” And Download the Horizon Client

Once downloaded run the installer and accept the default options. When the install is complete you will need to restart your computer.

1. Open the app and add the VDI server:

Click on “Add Server”

 Type: vdi.laverne.edu

Then click “Connect”

2. You will be prompted for your username, password and domain. Type your ULV username, password and then click the down arrow and select "LAVERNE".

Afterwards Select “Login”

3. On the next screen, you’ll see the virtual computers available to you. Simply double-click any icon to begin your Virtual Desktop Session.

Please note!

This desktop is not persistent, meaning anything saved to the desktop will not be there when you next login. Please be sure to save any important files to your OneDrive so they will not be lost.
