Reporting a Phishing Email

What is this new icon on my Outlook?

 

 

This new icon is an Office365 add-in from OIT that is designed to help make reporting phishing emails easier! Simply click the button to report a potential phishing email to OIT to review.

 

 

Reporting a Phishing email:

 

  1. Select the email that you would like to report by clicking on it in your inbox, then you will see the add-in across the ribbon bar at the top:

 

 

  1. With the email selected in your inbox, click on the Report phishing button and you will see a prompt to confirm:

 

 

 

  1. Click OK and it will automatically send the email to our phishing@laverne.edu email address for OIT to review. Then the email will be deleted from your inbox.

 

 

Reporting a Phishing email on the Outlook for web (webmail):

 

1. Open the email in the reading pane, by clicking on the suspicious email in your inbox.


2. From there the email preview will populate on the right side and you can click on the “report phishing icon

 

 

3. Don’t see the report button? You can click on the 3 buttons on the right side of the email and you will be able to report the email from the drop down:

4. Once clicked a dialog box will pop up on the left side asking you to confirm your report.

5. Click OK and it will automatically send the email to our phishing@laverne.edu email address for OIT to review. Then the email will be deleted from your inbox.
