How to run a report to get a list of Class Roster in excel format. The class roster provides instructors with a list of courses they are assigned to, and a list of students enrolled in that particular course.

How to Access Cognos

Before you begin: You must be either on campus and attached to the campus network, or you must be logged into the Virtual Desktop Interface in order to access the report. For instructions on logging into VDI, visit this website: https://laverne.edu/technology/virtual-desktop/

Follow these instructions to get data

Steps
1. Log into the portal and click on Cognos Production from the Staff Resources section.
2. You should be logged into Cognos and see the landing page. Click on Team Content and then click on the Student Folder.
3. Click on Faculty Student Reports.
4. Click on Faculty Class Roster.
5. Instructions are listed on the left hand side of the report. Follow the steps listed. The breakdown of these instructions are mentioned in the steps 5a-5f
5a. Select the term you want to run the report for.
5b. Select the subject
5c. Select the course number(s) you want to run the report for, or click on "Select All" to include all course number for the subject
5d. Next, click on the get CRN(s) button to populate the list of CRNs for the subject and course number(s) you selected
5e. Select the CRN(s) you want ot run the report for, or click on "Select All" to include all CRNs.
5f. Click on the "Finish" button on the bottom of the screen.
To Download as an Excel Spreadsheet, click on the down arrow next to the Run Report icon then click on Run Excel. The file will run to your Downloads folder.
