Installing a Cisco Firepower 1010 Device

Summary

Setting up a Cisco Firepower 1010 Device in your home.

Body

  1. Connect a network cable from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) equipment into port 1 on the Firepower 1010 device (refer to the red arrow in the picture below).

  2. Connect your laptop into any other Firepower 1010 port (such as ports 2 through 8) to connect to the Internet and University of La Verne intranet (ULV network).
    1. If you have a device that requires “power over Ethernet” (such as a Cisco desk phone), then it needs to be plugged into port 7 or 8.   You can also connect your laptop to the back of the Cisco desk phone (using a network patch cable) instead of connecting it directly to a Cisco Firepower 1010 port.

  3. Plug the power adapter power cable into the Cisco Firepower 1010 device and it will take about 7 minutes for it to boot up.
